Home and Away - The Confederate Home Front
Wars are not limited to the battlefield, they are often won or lost due to political, economic or diplomatic factors. In May we welcome speakers from both sides of the Atlantic to talk about different aspects of the problems facing the Confederacy on the Home Front.

1st Lecture: A Family at War: Gender and Power on the Confederate Home Front
Speaker: Dr Patrick J Doyle, Royal Holloway, University of London
2nd Lecture: Twisting John Bull’s Arm: Sequestration and Confederate Diplomatic Strategy
Speaker: Dr Rodney Steward, University of South Carolina

VENUE TICKET (£8)
This ticket is for people attending the meeting in person at the Civil Service club. Space is limited, so while we will admit 'walk-ins' if possible, anyone not purchasing a ticket in advance may be turned away if the venue is full. Tea, coffee and biscuits are included. Also includes access to the CSC bar before and after the event. The formal AGM is members only event but non-members are welcome to the talks.
